On July 30, 2015, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS) formally announced its Commission on Language Learning. The Commission, requested by a bipartisan group in Congress in November of 2014, will examine the state of language learning in the United States and report back to Congress in summer of 2016.

This Commission will gather leading research on language learning from scholarly and professional organizations, meet several times over the course of the next year, and report back to Congress in the summer of 2016 with its findings. JNCL-NCLIS fully anticipates to keep you updated on their progress throughout the next year.
