JNCL-NCLIS Welcomes 2024 Elected Officers and Board of Directors

JNCL-NCLIS WELCOMES 2024 ELECTED OFFICERS AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS.


WASHINGTON, D.C, January 4, 2024 -- The Joint National Committee for Languages and the National Council for Languages and International Studies (JNCL-NCLIS) today announced the 2024 Elected Officers and Board of Directors. Newly-elected officers include Pablo Muirhead, National Advocacy Chair of the Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers (WAFLT) as President-Elect, and Megan Diercks, Executive Director of the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) as Secretary.


2024 Elected Officers


President: Linda Egnatz, Global Seal of Biliteracy

President-Elect: Pablo Muirhead, Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers (WAFLT)

Treasurer: Michael Shaughnessy, American Association of Teachers of German (AATG)

Secretary: Megan Diercks, American Association of Teachers of French (AATF)

Pablo Muirhead, Wisconsin Association for Foreign Language Teachers (WAFLT)


A laser focus on advocacy informs the many hats that Pablo wears. In addition to his role as the Chair of the Associate of Arts & Science Programs at Milwaukee Area Technical College, he also served as the ACTFL Treasurer and was a member of his local school board. These similar, yet distinct, positions overlap and inform one another. He has been invited to testify to committees on education in the Wisconsin State Legislature and has built strong relationships with his local and state elected officials. He has also helped lead the last two Wisconsin delegations at JNCL during Advocacy Days. Read more!


Secretary


Megan Diercks, American Association of Teachers of French (AATF)


Megan Diercks is the AATF Executive Director, and the former National Bulletin Editor, the AATF Colorado-Wyoming chapter president, and the Assistant Director of the National French Contest. She was also the French instructor at Colorado School of Mines. Megan taught high-school French in Texas for 10 years, where she also served 2 terms as Vice President of the AATF North Texas chapter. Megan was named a Chevalier in the Order of French Academic Palms in February 2019. Read more!
